Autumn

We all know that it is coming but we are never prepared to finish last minute yard work. It seems like the leaves just fall off the trees and the temperature dips to thirty degrees. What happened to that wonderful summer time, when it so warm we wore shorts and tennis shoes.

We will mow the lawn for the last time this season and pick up all the yard waste before the refuge company will no longer pick it up. This year was a shocker because we had four or five inches of snow that melted as fast as it fell. I do not like to think about paying those heating bills. Our economy is still rather poor and fuel cost have increased because of the recession.

We did save some money this year by conserving on watering the lawn. It actually stayed green even through August where is usually burns to a crisp. We got to spend more time with our family out of town this year. We had not seen them that often lately! Everyone is always so busy with work and staying up with all the activities of a busy family.

When you have a lot of children your always running different directions trying to support your children. Its is good to keep them active with school and their friends. My wife and I have made some changes in our activities doing things we have never done. We bought season tickets to the theater for live entertainment.

I have never had so much fun in my life until now. We also have time for ourselves too. Live plays are amazing, exciting and its so much fun to be involved and interact from the front row of a live performance. Actors want to know that they are appreciated by the people, they are rewarded with the wild applause of the audience.

Go to the play and be open for the experience. Some plays are written with gender in mind but their is entertainment for all to enjoy. I found that out when I watched the rendition of The Quilters. Although some things are enjoyed more by the women than men. There is always something for everyone.

This part is very personal to me and I hope to not offend anyone. I have been together with one women for thirty-three years. Last year I almost lost her to a deadly disease. Why is it that we can only see the light of day when something tragic happens to someone in our families. I knew that I had been a selfish man in several ways throughout my life.

I swore to my wife that I would make amends for my selfishness. We have been through so much together and maybe you know what I am speaking about yourself. The rest of my time is to try and give back to her all she has given to us all everyday of her life. That is a very important thing to do for others in your life.

I know it can be a hard road to live like a christian in this world today. But we talk about changing times and in our youth things were better. Because we were healthy and strong. But the truth is the world is still the wonderful place that our lord build for us to live. The people are just the same too. We live through the fads of life, new dances, songs and growth together.

I went to the park with my oldest son and his boy something I had not done since our boys were his age. It was the most fun watching my grandson casting for the first time. It brought back memories of my boys with their lines tangled up and almost getting hooks stuck in my head and hat. These simple things are the most important parts of life.

The hardest part for me was when you hear the only parents stage. We are young, strong and know it all and just want to be with our friends. That was a sad time for me when I was no longer was the most important person in the lives of my children. But I was prepared because I went through the same stage just a little earlier than them.

But you know life goes on and a new summer will be here for us all to enjoy. Now we get ready for the winter festivities of riding toboggans, snow mobiles or just sleds and saucers. But it will be great fun our in the fresh air and of course it makes me think of another time. When it was twenty below outside and the children wanted to ride their sleds.

I will make this short because it was very short adventure. We got all dressed went to the park which was about a block away. We had only been outside for about fifteen minutes! When they all started yelling, I am frozen lets go home now. That was probably one of the most important lessons in their lives that day.
